In this remarkable book, Sandy C. Newbigging gives you a masterclass in the mind and how to meditate using his highly effective and enjoyable Mind Calm meditation. He reveals the eye-opening insights that sit at the heart of his approach; including the main hidden causes of a busy mind, the 'peace with mind' miracle, why there's more to life than you think, and how there is a silent solution to any problem — all brought together brilliantly with a 10-part programme that ultimately proves that the secret to success is stillness.
Discover first-hand the peaceful presence of your own being, feel the power of the present moment, and be amazed by how still your mind can be.
This book shares, in great detail, the simplistic techniques and benefits of meditation. By simplifying our lives, quieting our thoughts, and focusing on the positive aspects of our lives, we can live with more clarity and peace.
Be still. Those two short words make such an impact. We can soften our daily walk and enjoy more meaning by practicing this.
As a Christian, I would’ve liked the importance of prayer mentioned, seeing as God is the supplier of peace. But, either way, the principles in this book are powerful and motivating.

This book is broken up into two parts. In part one we are given teachings on why our minds are so busy and the benefits of Mind Calm. We are also shown techniques on how to use Mind Calm. In part two, "The 10 part Mind Calm Programme" we are given a deeper understanding of how to use the mind calm technique presented in part one for specific things such as wisdom, peace, and joy. I enjoyed this book and found the techniques easy to incorporate into my life. I also liked how each of the techniques came with a sort of 'game' to use.
Overall, I thought this book introduces us to a wonderful new technique that can be done with eyes opened or closed. I also like that we are given cures to the common causes of our busy minds. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to bring stillness and peace into their lives. I would also recommend this book for those who think they are to busy for meditation, or that they can't meditate as this book will change your mind.
I acknowledge that I received this book free of charge from Hay House in exchange for my honest and unbiased review of it.
I even wrote about one of the insights I got from the book in my last post on being judgmental, and that insight along with others have really changed the way I look at everything! It has helped calm my mind down, which is exactly what I expected from a book that was titled Mind Calm.
What Is Mind Calm?
At the core, it is a technique that will help you worry less, stop mind chatter, get focused and start being totally aware of your life. You learn how to stop getting lost in the endless chatter of thoughts that cause so many headaches, and so much wasted time focused on things that serve no purpose to your current reality.
In the end of the book, you apply all the techniques that you learn into a 10-part program to really make what you learned a part of your daily routine. The ‘Calm’ stands for Conscious Awareness Life Meditation.
The technique uses GAAWO, a technique which helps you gently get into a meditative state, as well as calm thoughts (a mixture of words, intention and focus) to help you bring things like love and peace into your life.
During the 10-part program, he outlines exactly what to do and includes some ‘games’ to help you become more consciously aware.
Besides the techniques outlined in the book, you get insight into why your mind is so busy and how to stop it from being so busy.
Every single word in every single chapter was valuable. Sometimes, I will skip over sections in a book – or speed read through them, but I found myself eating up every single word and coming out with consistent value.
Every since I read the first word in this book, I’ve started interacting with my life in a better way. For instance, I was extremely focused on a negative body part before I started to learn about Mind Calm, and it was causing me a lot of anxiety. With the Mind Calm technique (and all of the insight from this book), I can honestly say that my anxiety over this body part has lessened immensely!
I’ve started the 10-part program, and I feel as though this is going to be the one meditation technique that really sticks in my life. It is relaxing, easy, and pulls together many of the things that I have learned over the past years such as the Silva technique.
Who Is Mind Calm For?
This is really a mediation technique for everyone. It is easy and feels natural, and you can do it anywhere you want (as long as you are able to close your eyes safely!)
While the program takes some time out of your day, it is not hours on end. 35-minutes or so of meditation per day is all that is needed (although you can do more). It is split up into morning, afternoon, and night. And, throughout your day, you get to practice becoming more consciously aware and present in your life through some techniques outlined in the book. I find this is really helping me to reduce my mind chatter and stay in the present moment!
In short, Mind Calm is for anyone who wants to learn how to meditate while changing their life in a positive way.
The inner calm that you will start to feel while reading this book is worth a million bucks. If you are reading this Mind Calm review, then you are likely seeking an inner calm, and I really feel like the techniques outlined in this book, plus the insights you will receive, can help you achieve that in a small or big way, depending on how seriously you take this technique and how much you apply it to your life.
