Remember the little poem, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" Well, it sounds good and all that, but its not true. Words can hurt you. But the good news is that words can help you, too, if you know how to use them. And this book shows you how!

To be honest, my first thought was that it was another book on the subject of affirmations and how to use them. And that would have been okay. I like those kinds of books, but there really are a lot of them and the subject has kind of been beat to death. So, I was delighted to find that Sharon Klingler took it to a fresh and exciting new level!

I am a writer, too, and I know first hand the power of words, and that's really what this book is about - embracing the power of very specific words. The author shows us how to bring those words inside of us, how to experience words fully, and helps us to notice the affect that words really have on us.

This book made me think right away of Joseph Murphy, author of "The Power of Your Sub-Conscious Mind" and many other books. He taught that, rather than reciting affirmations that you may or may not believe on a sub-conscious level, it is better to focus on a single word that embodies what it is you want to bring into your life. For example, let's say you want to make more money. Murphy taught that instead of saying things like, "I am wealthy", which may be rejected by your sub-conscious, instead just say or think the word "wealth", over and over. In this way, you experience the power of the word and there is nothing there for your mind to reject. You are not claiming anything, you are just saying or thinking a word. It's a really powerful technique. There is even a wonderful lady who won a lottery jackpot using this method. So, my point is, Sharon's book really reinforces this ideal of using words, rather than claiming things you may or may not really believe. And let's face it, affirmations are great, and its better to say them than to say something negative, but if you don't believe what it is you are saying, the impact is not as great as it could be.

I really love, too, that Sharon talks a lot about using foreign words, and includes lots of examples. These words are so fun to use and it adds to the whole experience.

I can tell you that on a personal level, this book has helped me. I experienced a huge and lightning quick shift in something I had been believing for - and affirming - in my life. Just by using Sharon's techniques and embracing some very powerful words. And in the end, isn't it results that we are after? The proof is in the pudding, right?

"Power Words" really is powerful. It will be on my bookshelf and on my list that I give out to my clients. Get a copy, and get a copy for someone you love!

I received Sharon Anne Klingler’s latest book, Power Words: Igniting Your Life with Lightning Force free from Hay House Publishing for review. And to be honest, I assumed that this would be another one of those “how-to” affirmation books filled with rehashed and recycled information. But after scanning the Table of Contents, I was eager to jump right in and start trying out some of the exercises created by the author.

Power Words: Igniting Your Life with Lightning Force contains so many creative and original ideas that one may need to get a separate notebook in order to keep a log all of the practices and suggestions, along with the accompanying results. I found that this was a good way for me to discover which “trigger words” (a term coined by the author) worked best with my energy.

One of the most powerful exercises in the book involved taking a few commonly used words in our language and then breathing them in to get a feel for their different energies. The chapter titled, “Planning for Success? Make Your Life a Verb,” offered up some fantastic ways in which words can be used to keep the practitioner in the present as well as in action. The first section of the appendix in the back of the book provides the reader with a short list of what the author defines as “lifting words,” which is pretty self-explanatory. Appendix 2 has information about colors and their word associations. And finally the third appendix lists a handful of alternatives to the affirmation, “Bless you.”

Power Words: Igniting Your Life with Lightning Force is a fun and delightful book that does double-duty as an energy booster. I’m so glad I dropped my assumptions and gave it a chance.

This is the most comprehensive book I have ever read about how the power of the words affect what we think and say. Klinger talks about the nature of words, deeper meanings and deeper powers, discovering the energy of words, taking action with words, and the recipe to trigger power in the first section. She goes on to include tips for using powerful words at work, home, and play; commands and declarations; making decisions; and words and actions. She also includes information about the power of prayer, limiting language, and lifting words for a life of bliss.

I liked the techniques she recommended for statements and affirmations to make upon awakening to create a powerful, positive day. Klinger lists words that have the potential to empower which she calls "lifting words." She also connects the world of power words to taste and color for those who experience the world from a different sensory perspective.

I have used affirmations for many years and so I feel I am well-versed in the importance of the words that I think and say. Still, I significantly expanded my knowledge of language and its' importance in creating the future.

I recommend this book to anyone who is new to understanding the power of the words they use as well as those who have been using affirmations and words to change the direction of their lives.
