In Stress Free in 30 Days, Charles Linden does a wonderful job of explaining the difference between stress, anxiety, and depression, which people often lump together. He explains the differences in their causes, and manifestations. The main focus of the book is recovering from stress and/or anxiety. The author shows the chemical reactions caused by stress, and how they damage the body in the short and long term, as well as how if left untreated they can lead to an anxiety disorder. The 30 day program is easy to follow. All the solutions offered are helpful. It's not complicated, but it requires following through with it. Whether you're dealing with the stress of raising kids, or a high pressure sales job, this book could point you in a more productive direction. Within the first few days you should be feeling better, and find yourself more equipped to handle pressure and demands. The CD that comes with the book contains a short summation of how stress can mess you up, as well as several empowering visualizations to help you with relaxation and self-confidence. I was pretty curious when I saw the title: "Stress Free in 30 Days", by Charles Linden. I had been looking for some direction to addressing my stress and low-grade anxiety that had set in this year. I wanted something I could work my way through at my own pace; something I could pick up and work with a while, then come back to again as needed. This book and the accompanying CD turned out to be exactly what I needed.

The book introduced me to Charles Linden, the creator of "The Linden Method", a Anxiety Recovery Program that is widely considered to be the most successful, curative anxiety-elimination program available. From his own experiences with anxiety, he developed a method of eliminating stress from his life, and adapted it to use as a self help program. The book comes with an audio CD which contains visualizations for deep relaxation, confidence, and sleep. Using this CD in conjunction with the book will help speed up your progress and recovery.

The book is broken into chapters that are based on a 30 day "topic-a-day" approach. You learn what stress is, and how it affects us on all levels. The chapters deal with elements of our lives that affect our stress and anxiety levels: Diet, Alcohol, Exercise, Panic Attacks, Sleep and Insomnia, Money and Stress, Relationships, Avoiding Confrontation, Goal Setting, Confidence, Conscious Choices, for example. Each day's chapter is packed with discussion of the topic, and practical, useable information for making immediate changes for the better. Each chapter ends with "Foundations for Stress Free Living", a "to do" list of specific things to try, actions to take that day that are fast, targeted guidance to get you moving towards healing.

The CD is a great bonus tool; I found it to be a welcome relaxation method which helped me embrace the changes and steps I was working with in the book itself. This combination of book and CD helps the material to become incorporated into your understanding and daily practice. I highly recommend this book as a very worthwhile read, and a good self-help resource.

Linden does a great job of breaking up creative techniques to de-stress your life, such as the ppp method and the work time/ you time method. However, some techniques are unrealistic such as getting a weekly massage. Overall Linden has provided readers with an extensive list of ways to de-stress their lives And form the habits for a successful stress-free life.
