The Turning Point

Mar 25, 2014

BookLover

The Turning Point: Creating Resilience in a Time of Extremes by Gregg Braden is a book which shows us how we got to our current situation in the world (failing economies, energy crisis, and climate change) and how we can use certain turning points in our lives and in the world to shift these things into resilience and transformation.

We are shown how to initiate turning points so that we can get away from the unwanted outcome we currently seem to be heading towards. We are shown that turning points can happen spontaneously or we can create them. We are shown how nature lives in cooperation and not in "the survival of the fittest" mentality that we have been taught. We are given ideas to help us adapt to the changing world and to be resilient during this time of transformation where we can either lead ourselves toward destruction or use the turning points in our lives to create change.

I thought this book was a good look at how we have come to be in our current situation and how we can adapt to transform our world. Overall, this book brings a message of hope. I would recommend this book to everyone so that we can all come together and create turning points in all our lives.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness: 21 Days to Forgive Everyone for Everything by Iyanla Vansant teaches us about the power of forgiveness and how to practice it in our daily lives. Each day we are given a daily prayer to start, a forgiveness story which relates to that days idea, forgiveness statements to use and also EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), also known as tapping, to help clear energy. There is a CD included which contains three meditations that help us with the ideas presented in this book. In order for the book to be of the most use the reader has to on some level be ready to forgive and want to forgive.

The lessons learned in this book are impactful and will hopefully become a habit so that we can forgive everyone everything and live a fuller life, and a more joyful one. I really enjoyed this book and while some parts are hard to get through the end result is very empowering.

I do think that for those new to EFT it would have been better if there was more of an introduction to it. If you have never tapped before I would suggest reading Nick Ortner’s The Tapping Solution to get a more in-depth look at EFT in accompaniment to this book Overall, this book is a wonderful guide to forgiveness.

I acknowledge that I received this book free of charge from Hay House in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of the book.

Power Words

Feb 11, 2014

BookLover

Power Words: Igniting Your Life with Lightning Force by Sharon Anne Klinger is a book that examines the energy behind words and the impact they have to lift us up and help us succeed in our goals. These words are not affirmations, they can be as simple as using the word believe or a short phrase such as, ‘persevere to joy’. We are shown how these short words or phrases can change our current perception of reality and help us take action.

This book is broken up into five parts. In part one we are shown how words have energy behind them and the different aspects that help us to create a trigger word. In part two, “Trigger words for every purpose” we are shown how a single word can help us in any situation. In part three we are shown different power words from around the world and also different times that we can use in our life and the energy behind them. Part four looks at limiting language and how to go from limiting words to lifting words. Part five shows us how to use power words to look for love and find success.

I enjoyed this book immensely and will refer to it often. I would recommend this book for those who want to try a new way of using words to live a more empowered life.

I acknowledge that I received this book free of charge from Hay House in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of this book.

Love Your Enemies

Dec 10, 2013

BookLover

Love Your Enemies: How to Break the Anger Habit & Be A Whole Lot Happier by Sharon Salzberg and Robert Thurman is a book that shows us how to deal with situations and people that can be hard to deal with. We are shown the real source of our distresses and how to overcome our self-hatred.

This book goes over our four types of enemies. The first enemy is the Outer enemy, those who bully us or we find are our competition. The second enemy that is covered is the Inner Enemy, which are our destructive impulses. The third enemy is known as the secret enemy which is self-obsession and self-preoccupation. Finally, the last enemy is the super-secret enemy which is our deep-seated self-loathing that keeps us from happiness.

In each part of this book there are stories of people overcoming their “enemies”. At the end of the book there is a meditation which helps us be here now. There are also exercises in the book to help us work with our enemies, both inner and outer. I really enjoyed this book and found it to be very helpful in understanding the different types of enemies and also how to be at peace no matter what others do or say.

I received a copy of this book free of charge from Hay House in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of the book.

Play Your Bigger Game

Nov 19, 2013

BookLover

Play Your Bigger Game: 9 Minutes to Learn, A Lifetime to Live by Rick Tamlyn is based on the idea that life is all made up so make a game of it. In Play Your Bigger Game we are given a game board with nine different squares which we can use to find out where we are in our bigger game and where we want to go. I personally found this a fun and entertaining way to find our purpose and also where we want to go from where we currently are. Each chapter in this book tells us about the different squares on the board.

The fun thing about this game board is that there is no order in which we are required to go. We can start on any space we want and then go to any other space we desire. Two of my favorite squares are the Allies square and the Assess square. In the chapter on the allies square we are shown all the different types of allies we can have while playing our bigger game. In the assess square we look at where we are and where we want to go.

Overall, I liked this book. This book is like the instruction manual that comes with a game and shows us how to play. I would recommend this book to those who want a fun new way to find their purpose and also where they want to go.

Assertiveness For Earth Angels

Nov 01, 2013

BookLover

Assertiveness for Earth Angels: How to be Loving Instead of "Too Nice" by Doreen Virtue is a wonderfully helpful book, especially for those of us who have a hard time saying no. This book is also helpful to those who always put others happiness before their own.

Assertiveness for Earth Angels is broken up into four different parts. The first part entitled, "Assertiveness Basics" shows us how to have personal boundaries and not be a pushover. Part two, entitled, "Developing Assertiveness in Relationships" helps us identify toxic relationships and shows us how to handle them. In part three entitled, "Being Assertive Out in the World" we are shown how to have peaceful excitement instead of drama. The fourth part entitled, "Live Tools and Guidance for Earth Angels" shows us how to have more energy and also realize our life mission.

This book is absolutely wonderful. I liked that this book gave the reader permission to say no and set boundaries. I also appreciated the examples that were given which showed us how to be assertive without being aggressive. I also appreciated that the author explained the differences between being aggressive and being assertive by showing that they are not synonymous to each other. I would recommend this book to everyone who is 'too nice' and wants to learn to be loving instead of a
'pushover' or 'too nice'.

Returning to the Lakota Way: Old Values to Save a Modern World by Joseph M. Marshall III is a book which tells us age old Native American stories. The stories at the beginning of each chapter are told to then teach us an important lesson from the Lakota culture to use in the world in which we live in today.

The first chapter is entitled 'The Gift of Silence' and teaches us the importance of silence and introspection. The second chapter, The Wolf and The Raven, teaches us the lesson of woicu or tolerance. In the story of Iktomie Flies we are taught about wowicala or faith. Through the tale of The People of The Great Ones we are taught about selflessness. The grasshopper teaches us patience. Through The Journey story we are taught about peace and finally from the hunter we are taught wisdom.

This book brings the beautiful art of Native American storytelling and their wisdom to life for the modern age. I love how the author uses the tradition of storytelling to bring us many gems of wisdom. I would recommend this book to those who wish to learn more about Native American culture and it's wisdom.

One Mind

One Mind: How Our Individual Mind is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why it Matters by Larry Dossey, M.D. explains that we are all part of one infinite consciousness referred to by the author as One Mind. This book is broken up into four sections which explain the concept of the One Mind. The four sections in this book are entitled: Glimpses of the One Mind, Working with The One Mind, Accessing the One Mind, and The Way Forward.

Throughout the four sections of this book we are given case studies and stories to show us how the One Mind works. We are also shown that we are all one. This book covers subjects on everything from twins to near death experiences and shows how these things relate to the One Mind.

Overall, I thought that One Mind by Larry Dossey was very informative and can show us that we are all part of a greater consciousness. I also think the four different sections are helpful in showing how One Mind works. My favorite part of this book showed how we access the One Mind through our dreams. The only criticism that I have for this book is that it reads like a textbook and can be hard to get through at times.

Love Has Forgotten No One

Sep 30, 2013

BookLover

Love Has Forgotten No One: The Answer to Life by Gary R. Renard is a book channeled from Ascended Masters Arten and Pursah. This book explains A Course in Miracles in a way that is easy to understand. One of the main lessons in this book is about true forgiveness as explained by the Ascended Masters and Gary in this book. The other lesson that is taught is that we are not separate from God. That we are separate from God is a perception of the ego.

This is the first book by Gary Renard that I have read and I feel there is a lot of wisdom within. I personally have never read A Course in Miracles, but after reading this book I think I should. I really liked Love Has Forgotten No One and will defiantly read it again. The wisdom that can be found in this book is inspiring. I loved the part where we are shown that we are perfect love and were never separate from God.

Overall, I felt this book was well written and inspiring. I would recommend it to those who want to learn about A Course In Miracles. I will defiantly read this book again.

Entangled in Darkness

Sep 24, 2013

BookLover

Entangled in Darkness: Seeking the Light by Deborah King is a wonderful book on going from a vibration of darkness to one of light. This book shows us how we can go from a vibration of light to dark and back to light again.

Entangled in Darkness shows us that every choice we make can either bring us light or it can bring us darkness. This book also shows us the ways our energy can be taken by others. There is also a section in this book on death and how to not be afraid of it. In this book there is also a chapter on telling the difference between schizophrenia and possession.

My favorite part of this book is when Deborah King shows us which acts can lead towards darkness and what things can lead us towards a vibration of light. I thought it interesting that according to Deborah the two things that lead us to the light the most are prayer, although not necessarily the normal form of prayer, and meditation.

I believe that if everyone in the world read this book we would all overcome our own darkness and start to live more in the light.

Choices and Illusions

Sep 13, 2013

BookLover

Choices and Illusions: How Did I Get Where I am, and How Do I Get Where I Want to Be? by Eldon Taylor is the second edition of this book and includes five additional chapters. The author Eldon Taylor shows us how most of our choices come from our subconscious and most if not all of our thoughts come from other people and the media. Choices and Illusions shows us hot to discover our own truth and examine our own thoughts. We are also shown how to reverse negativity and to forgive others to find our personal empowerment. We are also shown how to embrace life and love ourselves.

The part of this book that I found among the most interesting is the section that shows us how much of what we think are original thoughts are really coming from the media and others. I also liked the InnerTalk for Unlimited Personal Power CD that accompanied the book and found it to be helpful.

I would certainly recommend this book to those who wish to stop having thoughts from others and learn how much of our thoughts really are not our own. I would also recommend this book for those who want to live a more empowered life.

I acknowledge that I received this book from Hay House in exchange for my honest and unbiased review of the book.

The Heart of the Matter: A Simple Guide to Discovering Gifts in Strange Wrapping Paper by Dr. Daren R. Weissman and Cate Montana, M.A., guides us through the See Hear Feel Challenge to live a more authentic life that is true to our heart's desire. This book enables us to live authentically and truly hear what our heart is telling us.

The See Hear Feel Challenge presented in this book is so simple and easy to use, yet it will profoundly change your life to live more true to yourself. This challenge shows us that through truly acknowledging our emotions we can live our heart's desire and overcome our personal self-undoing patterns and negativity.

I was profoundly moved by this book. The exercises found inside the book showed us how to use the See Hear Feel Challenge in every aspect of our lives from addictions to personal shame.

In The Heart of the Matter we are shown that our emotions can either inhibit our lives or empower us and our lives. The one thing I loved most was that we are shown how to create a garden of self-love for ourselves.

The Miracles of Archangel Gabriel

Aug 01, 2013

BookLover

The Miracles of Archangel Gabriel by Doreen Virtue is a wonderfully inspiring work on the help and insight that Archangel Gabriel can bring if we only ask. Archangel Gabriel is the "chief messenger" angel. Gabriel helps us will all areas of communication from speaking to writing. Gabriel also helps pregnant women, women in labor, parents, and children.

This book is wonderfully illustrated throughout with wonderful pictures of Archangel Gabriel. I was wonderfully surprised to find that if one calls upon Archangel Gabriel that Gabriel will help one with writing and if writing a manuscript will help until one is finished. I was happy to find that Gabriel would help one pursue a career in writing.

Also, being that I have young children myself, I was happy to find that Gabriel would help co-parent our children and help watch over them.

I highly recommend this book to both parents and writers to help them learn how Gabriel can help them in their lives. This is an absolutely wonderful book with exquisite illustrations. It is a short read and will show you how to have Archangel Gabriel help you in your life. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about Archangel Gabriel.

The Greening

Jul 21, 2013

BookLover

The Greening by Margaret Coles is a novel filled with mystery, love, and adventure. While this book is fictional it is based upon a book written by a woman named Julian who had visions of Jesus and the crucifixion.

In the book The Greening by Margaret Coles the author shows us through the main character, Joanna, a journalist, that God is love and the meaning of everything is love. We are taken on a journey by the journalist to discover meaning and find that God is not a God of vengeance. We are shown that whatever comes our way, "all shall be well". We are taught about a God that loves us and does not see our sin.

In The Greening the main character sees that we all have to come to our own personal Calvary where hope and grief meet in order to surrender control and find peace.

This book reminded me of The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield in that it shows us important concepts in story form.

While there was a significant christian undertone to the book, I found that its' overall encompassing message of love is one everyone can relate to. I think that this is a wonderful first novel by Margaret Coles.

Life's Operating Manual

Jul 07, 2013

BookLover

Life's Operating Manual: With the Fear and Truth Dialogues by Tom Shadyac is a book of short essays and conversations between Fear and Truth. The book starts out with an old Native American legend about two wolves; one bad (fear), and the other good (truth). The author goes on to say that we each have two wolves inside us and which one wins depends on which wolf we feed, fear or truth.

In each chapter of the book the author focuses on different aspects of our lives and humanity as a whole and then has a dialogue at the end between fear and truth.

One of the main points of this book is that humans are not hardwired for competition, we are hardwired to live in cooperation with each other. The author also argues that we are not hardwired for negativity but rather to live positively and that is why we are so captivated with negativity in the news, because it goes against what comes naturally to us as human beings.

I found this book to be a quick, short, and easy read. I read it through all at once and could not put it down. My favorite part of the book was the dialogues between fear and truth at the end of each chapter. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to challenge their current world view.

I acknowledge that I received this book free from Hay House in exchange for my unbiased opinion of the book.

The Inside-Out Revolution

Jun 30, 2013

BookLover

The Inside-Out Revolution: The Only Thing You Need to Know to Change Your Life Forever by Michael Neill is a book on simply being. This book introduces us to three principles which are:

1. The God Principle: Mind

2. The Awareness Principle: Consciousness

3. The Creative Principle: Thought

Using these three principles we remember how to simply be. We are shown that meditation is our natural state and that a quiet mind is also a natural state.

I found this book to be a short and conversational read. While there are no practices in this book or exercises to do I found it very easy to implement the three principles. We are shown that we need to live from the inside out instead of the outside in.

I especially liked the principle of thought and how if you simply think something new (by just using your next thought) you can change your was of seeing the world. I thought this book was very insightful.

I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a way to get aback to their natural self and return to their default settings. This book was a very good read and I will definitely read it again.

Solomon Speaks on Reconnecting Your Life

Jun 22, 2013

BookLover

Solomon Speaks on Reconnecting Your Life by Dr. Eric Pearl and Frederick Ponzlov is a channeled work. The first few chapters I had to read and reread until I got used to the wording. I felt that it was a bit hard to read being that punctuation was subjective in this work.

The book Solomon Speaks on Reconnecting Your Life by Dr. Eric Pearl and Frederick Ponzlov is channeled from entity's named Solomon and Aaron but for the sake of simplicity they just referred to the two entities as Solomon. In the beginning of the book they gave both of their stories which I found to be useful in understanding the background of how the book came about.

This book was very eye opening. It talks about things such as intuition and discovering the healer within each of us. It also spoke about how we are all connected and should practice non-judgment. Solomon Speaks on Reconnecting Your Life tells us that we should focus on how we are all the same instead of the differences we all have. This book connects us to our essence and will be one I read again and again.

I would recommend this book to those who are interested in discovering the healer within themselves.

The Kinslow System

BookLover

The Kinslow System: Your Path to Proven Success in Health, Love, and Life by Dr. Frank J. Kinslow is a book based on a system called Quantum Entertainment (QE). Quantum Entertainment is a system that shows one how to quiet the mind and get in touch with Eufeeling or Self.

This book shows us how to get in touch with Eufeeling while doing anything from brushing our teeth to driving. It also shows us how to use Quantum Entertainment to heal ourselves and others.

One of the things mentioned about QE is to, "remember: If it isn't easy and it isn't fun, then it isn't QE." One of the best things about Quantum Entertainment is that is is surprisingly simple once you get used to it and anyone can do it. The Kinslow System is a complete system that shows people how to be in touch with their true nature at all times. I continue to be amazed at the sure simplicity of the system and the amazing results it can have in people's lives. This book is simple and profound.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun and easy way to get in touch with their true self by simply doing nothing.
